The University of Auckland Business School, in partnership with the Faculty of Education and Social Work, successfully delivered the second international Executive Education programme last week to a group of 15 staff from the Financial Education and Training Agency (FETA) of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance.

FETA’s role is to educate all Ministry of Finance employees in the field of state finance. Until now, FETA has used classroom learning, but their vision for the future is to become a leading educational and training institution that produces world-class state finance managers.

Digital learning is now widely recognised as an essential tool for executive education, so the University of Auckland Business School was chosen as partner to deliver both e-learning capability training and a framework to align e-learning to MoF Indonesia’s wider business strategy. “E-learning is not limited by country or institution, so we can all learn from anywhere” – Delegate Salman Al Farisi

The E-learning Capability Development Programme was facilitated by Lawrence May, who leads the Faculty of Education and Social Work's learning design team, and Jamie Denton, a learning designer in the Faculty of Education and Social Work's digital learning team. “The facilitators showed us many tools that encourage our ideas, and can be adopted in our training design and contents” - Delegate Riko Febrialdo

To welcome the delegation, most of whom have not visited New Zealand before, the programme began with a traditional powhiri ceremony at the University Marae. For the next five days, the delegates participated in a series of intensive interactive sessions, learning to design and facilitate eLearning activities/courses that are ‘meaningful, memorable, and motivational’. They were also introduced to ‘micro-learning’, which is the subject of the next stage of their learning journey.

Of course, no visit to New Zealand is complete without a visit to Hobbiton, which the group enjoyed over the weekend. We look forward to continuing our support for the the group as they take the next step in this ongoing learning journey.
